Old Dominion University will reduce undergraduate tuition for active-duty military members by more than 28 percent starting in the fall semester.
They will pay $250 per credit hour, which provides a reduction of more than $100 per credit hour from the standard rate.
The new tuition rate applies to undergraduate courses both on campus and 在线. It is the latest move by Old Dominion to provide convenient, flexible and relevant education to members of the military, 安迪·卡西洛说, associate vice president for distance learning.
"A degree from ODU can be a real asset to an active-duty service member," said William Gideon, associate director of military distance learning. "We offer many programs at all degree levels to complement service and experience, as well as provide real skills that can be used both while they are in the military and when they transition to civilian life."
ODU has supported veterans and service members for more than 70 years. After World War II, veterans could use the GI Bill to earn their degrees on campus.
Old Dominion later was a pioneer in distance learning for military members stationed abroad, delivering courses to foreign post assignments and to Navy ships at sea.
Now the University provides a robust internet-based distance learning program that offers the same rigor as on-campus classes.
"Old Dominion is consistently ranked as affordable, and we've been a 军事 Friendly School for nine years running,卡西略说. "We know the needs of military students and strive to be as helpful as possible so that our service men and women can achieve their educational goals."
